Ted McGinley was the guy who, in 1982, had escorted Brooke Shields to her Dwight Englewood senior prom, when she was 16 years old. When Ted attended college, he became the captain of its water polo team. Later, he studied at the University of Southern California, to which he got an admission on the basis of a water polo scholarship. During his University stint, Ted also played for the U.S. Junior National team.
In June 1991, Ted got married to Gigi Rice, who is an actress. The couple has two children both of whom are boys. One of the sons named Beau Martin McGinley was born May 25th 1994, while the details of the other son are not known. The family currently lives in Los Angeles.
Ted started his career by working as a model. Later, his picture that was printed in the GQ was spotted by a casting director, who then cast him in the comedy series Happy Days. And then there was no looking back for Ted, who went on to work on shows like Dynasty, Hotel, The John Larroquette Show, Married With Children, Sports Night, Justice League, Hope & Faith, Family Guy and many others.
Besides mesmerizing audiences with his myriad performances on the small screen, Ted had also impressed the movie buffs by portraying varying characters in numerous movies. His most prominent movies include Young Doctors in Love, Blue Tornado, Wild justice, Dick, Face The Music, Day Break, Pearl Harbor, Eavesdrop and Privileged, etc., with the last one currently undergoing post- production.
It is really quite unpleasing that despite Ted’s enormous contribution to the entertainment industry, he has not been recognized for his great work till now. However, in 2009, he was honored with the Innovator Award at the TV Land Awards for his work in Married With Children.
Role In Married With Children
In Married With Children, Ted plays the role of Jefferson D’Arcy. He is the second husband of Marcy D’Arcy, who became the neighbor of the Bundy family after his marriage. It was often hinted that he had married Marcy, who is much older than him, only because of her monetary status. Jefferson is a selfish and lazy guy and is often referred to as the male equal of Peggy. Being Al closest friend, Jefferson has a very encouraging and in tune approach towards Al’s behavior, which often infuriates Marcy. Even though he is bossed around by Marcy, he often insults her, ignores her instructions and even cheats on her behind her back. He is undoubtedly the most money minded character of the show, beating even the Bundy’s at it. When Al comes across an exceptionally beneficial opportunity, it is Jefferson who characteristically convinces Al to take advantage of the same.
