Hey friends! Katie Sagal has surely matured since she played the role of the annoyingly lazy Peggy Bundy on Married With Children TV Show. She has taken up various other roles and has appeared on numerous other shows since then. However, despite this, she is still fondly remembered by her fans as the lethargic yet loveable Peggy who satirized the TV housewives of the ’60s and ’70s.
And now, as we see her portray the role of the tough-as-nails character of Gemma, on another TV show named Sons of Anarchy, Katie tries to clarify that she has left the character of Peg Bundy far behind. According to Katie, playing the role of Gemma is fun filled and this character is quite different from her character on Married With Children. She feels that Peg Bundy from the yesteryears sitcom would not have been able to endure the gang of drug dealers and gun smugglers from Sons of Anarchy, for even one nanosecond.
Katie has been finding it difficult to break free of her image of the sluggish wife of Al Bundy from Married With Children TV show. Even though the sitcom provided her with the much deserved success, ever since the series ended in 1977, she has been trying to prove that she is not Peg Bundy. But perhaps, the impression she laid on her audiences during the eleven seasons for which Married With Children was on air, was so deep that however hard she tries, people will still recognize her as Peggy.
But, I feel that she should take it in a positive stride as it is a proof of her immense talent. Making people believe in the reality of a character through their histrionics is perhaps one of the greatest achievements of actors, and Katie has done exactly that with her performance as Peggy.
